Samsung India upskills 3,000 underprivileged students in future tech domains

As part of the the Samsung Innovation Campus program, Samsung has upskilled 3,000 underprivileged students across India in future tech domains such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data and Coding & Programming, making them job-ready, the South Korean tech giant said on Thursday.

Executed by the Electronics Sectors Skills Council of India (ESSCI), the Samsung Innovation Campus program aims to upskill Indian youth aged 18-25 years in future technologies and enhance their employability in the digital era.

Of the total 3,000 students trained under the Samsung Innovation Campus programme so far, around a third are from Uttar Pradesh. The final batch of 120 students are from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Lucknow.

As part of the program, the students receive instructor-led classroom training via approved training and education partners of ESSCI across the country. The program participants undergo classroom training and complete their hands-on capstone project work in their selected technology areas.

Students enrolled in the AI course undergo 270 hours of theory training and complete 80 hours of project work while those in the IoT or the Big Data course undergo 160 hours of training and complete 80 hours of project work. Participants opting for the Coding & Programming course also undergo 80 hours of training and become part of a Hackathon.
