MapmyIndia Challenges Ola's Navigation Claims, Calls It A 'Gimmick'
MapmyIndia CEO Rohan Verma has accused Ola of making gimmicky claims regarding its new navigational map, stating it lacks the investment and expertise required. Verma emphasized that the quality of Ola Maps is poor, causing user issues. Ola refuted these claims as desperate attempts to stay relevant.
MapmyIndia, a leading digital navigation firm, has raised questions regarding Ola-parent ANI Technologies' recent claim about developing a navigational map of India. Labeling the announcement as a 'gimmick,' MapmyIndia's CEO and Executive Director, Rohan Verma, challenged the validity of Ola's claims.
In an interview with PTI following a legal notice to Ola Electric, Verma highlighted concerns over the map reportedly developed by startup Geospoc Pvt Ltd—a subsidiary of ANI Technologies—emphasizing the significant resources needed to create a reliable map of India. Verma insisted that there is no business risk for MapmyIndia due to the alleged poor quality of Ola Maps.
An Ola spokesperson refuted the 'baseless and motivated statements' from MapmyIndia, accusing the company of trying to remain relevant by undermining competitors. Ola stands by its business integrity and plans to respond to the legal notice issued by MapmyIndia.
