India Leads in AI Adoption and Governance

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized India's noteworthy position in adopting and governing artificial intelligence during the Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam's convocation.

She pointed out that India leads in AI-driven solutions, with 3 billion app downloads in 2024, far surpassing the US and China. India's co-chair role at the AI Action Summit in Paris further cements its global leadership in AI.

Sitharaman also detailed the government's India AI mission, with substantial funding to develop AI infrastructure and talent. She highlighted India's advancements in the Global Innovation Index, patents, and intangible assets, stressing the necessity for ethical AI use and urging graduates to foster responsible community values.
