Ireland Joins Global Effort with €15 Million Pledge to Amazon Fund

In a significant move to support environmental conservation, Ireland has pledged €15 million to Brazil's Amazon Fund over the next three years, as announced by the Brazilian government on Wednesday.
This marks Ireland's first contribution to the fund, increasing the roster of donor nations to eight. Managed by Brazil's development bank, the Amazon Fund is dedicated to halting deforestation in the world's largest tropical rainforest and encouraging sustainable development.
Thus far, the fund has backed 123 projects with a cumulative investment of 3.1 billion reais, the Brazilian Environment Ministry detailed. Other contributing nations include Norway, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Switzerland, and Japan. The announcement was made during a meeting in Sao Paulo attended by Brazil's Environment Minister Marina Silva and Ireland's Transportation Minister Sean Canney.
