The Telangana government, in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is set to make history by launching India's first state-led digital public infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI) on July 2. This initiative, known as the Telangana Data Exchange (TGDeX), aims to foster the development of cross-domain AI solutions through an innovative partnership model involving the state, industry, research institutions, and startups.
The project, developed by the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru, will offer AI developers access to high-quality data and collaborative tools, thanks to strategic and technical guidance from JICA's DXLab. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged all stakeholders to contribute to this transformative vision.
Leveraging Telangana's strong AI ecosystem, TGDeX will unify efforts from government departments, private entities, academic institutions, and data providers. The platform will eventually host over 2,000 AI-ready datasets in five years, supported by partners like the Telangana AI Mission, T-Hub, and IIT Hyderabad.
