The CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory in Jamshedpur has inked a memorandum of understanding with Electrotherm (India) Ltd, establishing a strategic alliance aimed at advancing research and development in the field of advanced materials. This collaboration sets the stage for pioneering work in electrical steels and metallurgical innovations, officials reported.
The partnership focuses on accelerating joint efforts in developing electrical steels, new alloy systems, and functional coatings, as well as creating viable import-substitution materials crucial for India's strategic and manufacturing sectors. The agreement is valid for an initial period of three years, facilitating the development of specialized R&D programs, plant-level trials, and the commercialization of breakthrough metallurgical products.
This alliance is poised to strengthen India's self-reliance in essential metallurgical technologies and offer science-backed solutions to domestic industries, thus enhancing the nation's industrial and strategic capabilities.
