The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is driving significant changes in the hiring norms within the Indian IT sector, reveals a comprehensive study by ICRIER, supported by OpenAI.
The study highlights a marked preference for candidates possessing domain expertise and skills in AI or data, signaling an elevated need for hybrid skills across the industry. Notably, 63% of firms have reinforced this trend, as AI becomes ingrained in core processes.
While entry-level hiring sees moderation, demand for roles traditionally vulnerable to AI, such as software developers, is sharply rising. AI acts as a productivity booster rather than a replacement, resulting in notable productivity gains without employment cuts. Despite these advancements, challenges in AI training persist, although firms are investing in awareness initiatives.
