Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Minister of Communications, issued a directive demanding the prompt integration of the Department of Posts' pension services with the telecom department's SAMPANN portal within a week. During a celebratory event in the capital, Scindia stressed the importance of concluding prolonged internal discussions to achieve this goal.
Scindia's directive came amidst the 75th anniversary celebration of the Postal Training Centre in Saharanpur, where he also unveiled a commemorative postage stamp. The SAMPANN platform, already supporting 4.8 lakh telecom pensioners, received a boost as agreements were signed with the Goa government and Cochin Port Authority to utilize the platform.
Originally developed by the Office of the Controller General of Communication Accounts (CGCA), SAMPANN streamlines the pension lifecycle from beginning to end. Now, the Department of Telecommunications is extending SAMPANN as a 'Platform as a Service' (PaaS) to other public sectors, thereby broadening its impact beyond telecommunications.
