Revolutionary Alert System Boosts India's Disaster Preparedness

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the launch of a new Cell Broadcast Alert System aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness and governance. This system disseminates emergency alerts via mobile networks across India, ensuring rapid, effective communication during tsunamis, earthquakes, and other emergencies, excluding poll-bound states.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the use of new technologies in launching the Cell Broadcast Alert System, aimed at bolstering disaster preparedness and sharpening governance. Shah emphasized the importance of timely and effective citizen outreach during emergencies.

The alert system, launched by Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, promises rapid dissemination of crucial information during tsunamis, earthquakes, lightning strikes, and man-made emergencies. Developed indigenously by C-DOT, it reflects India's commitment to modernizing emergency communications.

Operational across 36 states and Union Territories, the system leverages mobile networks and international protocol CAP for effective area-targeted alerts, excluding poll-bound regions, to safeguard citizens' lives in time-critical situations.
