The International Big Cat Alliance has announced its annual photography competition and invited wildlife photographers from across the world to submit entries ahead of the May 12 deadline. The Big Cats Global Photography Competition was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2023. The International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) is a multi-country, multi-agency coalition of 95 big cat range countries and non-range countries interested in big cat conservation. The alliance also includes conservation partners, scientific organisations engaged in big cat research, as well as business groups and corporates committed to supporting the conservation efforts. In a post on X on Friday, the IBCA said the competition seeks to bridge wildlife photography with global conservation recognition. ''The prestigious IBCA BIG CATS Global Photography Competition 2026! Calling wildlife photographers worldwide -- a global stage like never before for your big cat photographs,'' the IBCA added. Participants are invited to submit photographs of seven major big cat species: tigers, lions, leopards, snow leopards, cheetahs, jaguars and pumas. The global photography competition features a total prize pool of over Rs 11 lakh. The grand award ceremony honoring the winners will take place at the upcoming IBCA Summit 2026, which will take place here in June. The summit will bring together heads of state/heads of government, experts and partners from across the world to deliberate on the future of big cat conservation.
