Software to Better Manage Transportation Industry proposed in Vietnam

Vietnam's Directorate for Roads has proposed a software to better manage the transportation industry. It will include a database of information on all drivers working for the transportation businesses nationwide. And this includes driving licenses, training courses, road safety violations and punishment records.

The Directorate said all departments of transport at the provincial and city levels will be granted accounts to keep track of the drivers and transport businesses under their management. Sources say the software will be connected to the driving license management software, the vehicle GPS tracking system, medical facilities which conduct health check-ups for drivers and agencies responsible for dealing with traffic violations like traffic police and inspectors.

The software was proposed after a series of serious accidents in which drivers were found to be high on drugs. It took a lot of time for the authorities to locate the drivers' records to help identify the cause of the accident. The Directorate has also pointed out that management difficulties arise from lack of data sharing.
