Tech giant Google will be soon launching the successor of Google Home Mini, a smart speaker powered by Google Assistant, with a substantial upgrade in features, 9to5Google quoted sources as saying.

According to the report, the smart speaker has been named 'Nest Mini' and will come with a built-in wall mount, improved sound quality and much more features. Well, some of you might be wondering where the Nest Mini got its name from? To recall, Google announced back at Google I/O 2019 conference that Nest and Google Home have merged into a single unit and it will rebrand all its home electronics products under the 'Google Nest' banner.

Moving on to the new features of Nest Mini, the smart speaker will have improved sound, with higher maximum volume and better bass and quality overall. It will also feature a 3.5mm stereo jack, a functionality already included by the top competitors of the Google Home, such as, the Amazon Echo, Apple HomePod, to name a few.

Nest Mini may also integrate some kind of proximity awareness like in other Google hardware devices. Also, there are reports of new color variants, however, the exact details regarding the color options and pricing of the second-generation Nest Mini are still awaited.

Google acquired Nest Labs for USD 3.2 billion in January 2014 and operated independently from Google's other business units between 2015 to 2018. But, in late 2018, after the resignation of Nest CEO Marwan Fawaz, Nest and Google's home-devices unit joined together as Google Nest.
