It has been a long debate for considering nuclear energy as prime source of energy. India and France has recently signed an agreement for the construction of a nuclear power plant in India and it seems that nuclear energy addition is about to pick up in the near future.

Looking at the top four nuclear energy consumption nations, US leads in the usage of nuclear energy followed by France, China and Russian Federation. The growth for nuclear energy in China is higher (24.5 percent) and for the rest the growth was very low.

Nuclear energy as the name suggests, is the energy produced by the atoms. The two processes by which the nuclear energy is produced is the fission and the fusion process. The Nuclear Power plants use the fission process using the Uranium as a fuel. The heat generated by the fission process is used to heat the water.

The water absorbs the heat and converts into steam and the steam is used to drive the turbine, which eventually generates electricity. The electricity is then goes to the grid for the use by the consumers.

Nuclear energy can be used as base energy, which is main positive for the nuclear energy. It is not economical to use nuclear energy as intermittent source of power. The downside of a nuclear energy power plant is the risk of nuclear radiations associated with it that have a lifelong impact on the surroundings areas where the plant is being located.

In the present time, due to the past nuclear leakage incidents, the nuclear energy is still on the debate and a subject of resistance by various NGO and local communities.
