A travelling art exhibition showcasing over 75 works from 15 artists from south India and currently on view at a gallery here, will make its second and third stop in Chennai and Singapore respectively, next year.
Exhibited at the Art Spice Gallery here, the show "Masters of South" has these participating artists: G. Raman, P. Gnana, A. Viswam, K. R. Karthikeyan, Village Mookkaiya, N. Manoharan, M. Jayakumar, Ravilaks, Rekha Senthoor, Aneefa, M. Raja, D. Tiroumale, Shanmugam, T. G. Thayumanavan and G. Gangatharan.
"I believe artists from the south (of India) have a greater grip on their work, and they price their artworks affordably, something within the reach of commoners," gallery curator Babita Gupta told IANS.
"The exhibition is a good resource to understand the subtle differences between the lives of people in the north and south. For instance, there is a subtle difference between the villages of the two regions, which can be observed through paintings," Gupta said.
"Masters of South" will be displayed at Chennai's Focus Art Gallery and Singapore (location yet to be decided) starting next year, she said. In Delhi, it will be open for public viewing till January 15, 2019.
