The Paepaeulupoo Fautasi, from Aua village, won the 2019 Flag Day Fautasi Race in American Samoa. Sources say the seven-and-a-half mile race had ten fautasi. How ever three pulled out after taking in water in the rough seas before the race started.

The event, which marked the 119th year since the raising of the US flag in the territory, was also highlighted by a multicultural festival. It showcased various ethnic communities in American Samoa. The festival included entertainment, youth talent shows, business giveaways, food, produce and locally produced handicrafts.

A church service will also be held and a two-day business festival will be set before the actual Flag Day ceremony which will be held on Wednesday.
