Russia's Lavrov complains to USA's Pompeo about new sanctions

MOSCOW, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Friday conveyed to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo by phone Moscow's categorical disapproval of a new round of U.S. sanctions, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

On Wednesday, the State Department announced a new round of sanctions that pushed the rouble to two-year lows and sparked a wider sell-off over fears Russia was locked in a spiral of never-ending sanctions. (Reporting by Polina Ivanova Editing by Andrew Osborn)
