Freight rates up on pick up in cargo movements

Freight rates for the nine-metric tonne payload section to select destinations improved by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market in the national capital today following increased cargo movements and less availability of trucks.

Transporters said pick up in cargo movements against the tight position of trucks, pushed up the freight rates for select destinations.

Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Kanpur and Jaipur freight rates moved up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 19,000, Rs 21,000, Rs 22,000 and Rs 18,000, respectively.

Rates to Ahmedabad, Baroda, and Mumbai also went up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 24,000, Rs 27,000 and Rs 31,000, respectively.
