Sweden's GDP decreased by 3.8 percent in August, seasonally adjusted and compared with the previous month, Statistics Sweden's preliminary compilation of the GDP indicator showed on Wednesday. It was the first time since May the month-on-month indicator fell.

"Several factors contributed to this downturn. Exports of goods, which turned downwards, was a component that stood out in particular in August," Mattias Kain Wyatt at the statistics office said in a statement.
