Gur prices steady in Delhi, fall in Muradnagar, Muzaffarnagar

Jaggery: Lethargic conditions persisted at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital during the week as prices remained steady on sluggish demand amid negligible supplies.

In contrast, Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets witnessed weak demand amid mounting stocks on fresh arrivals and registered losses of up to Rs 100 per quintal.

Marketmen said weak demand from stockists and retailers along with bloated stock on fresh supplies from producing regions pulled down gur prices in Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar.

In Delhi, gur Chakku, Pedi, Dhayya and Shakkar prices quoted unchanged at Rs 3,300-3,400, Rs 3,600-3,700, Rs 3,700-3,800 and Rs 3,800-3,900 per quintal respectively.

On the other hand, in Muradnagar gur Pedi prices dropped by Rs 100 to end the week at Rs 3,250-3,300 per quintal, while trading in gur dhayya did not happen due to unavailability of stock.

Coming to Muzaffarnagar, gur Chakku prices fell by Rs 50 to settle the week at Rs 2,900-3,000 per quintal.

Meanwhile, gur Raskat prices ended at last week's closing level of Rs 2,900-3,000 per quintal.

Prices of gur Khurpa and Laddoo were not quoted due to the scarcity of stocks.
