Freight rates fall on excess availability of trucks

Freight rates for the nine-metric tonne payload section declined by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market in the national capital Saturday on abound availability of trucks in the market amid insufficient movements of cargo.

Transporters said tight movements of cargo and heavy position of trucks pulled down the freight rates.

Delhi to Indore, Baroda, Surat, Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata freight rates moved down by Rs 1000 each to Rs 22,000, Rs 24,000, Rs 26,000, Rs 28,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 32,000.

Freights to Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Puducherry, Coimbatore and Kochi from capital also dropped by Rs 1000 each to Rs 55,000, Rs 59,000, Rs 62,000, Rs 71,000 and Rs 74,000 respectively.
