The European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed to a significant loan agreement with the regional government of Valencia, amounting to €470 million. This financial support will co-finance a robust portfolio of projects aimed at enhancing green, social, and digital investments across the Spanish region. These initiatives are a part of the 2021-2027 operational programs under EU cohesion policy funds, specifically benefiting from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).

The targeted projects span a variety of sectors including education, training, research, development, innovation, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-caps. Additionally, the loan will facilitate advancements in sustainable transport and the enhancement of energy efficiency in public buildings.

This strategic funding aligns with the EIB's commitment to fostering economic, social, and territorial cohesion within the EU, supporting Valencia’s transitions to a greener and more digitally integrated economy while boosting business competitiveness and sustainable urban development. This collaboration underscores the EIB Group’s dedication to prioritizing and achieving key cross-cutting objectives within one of the EU's designated transition regions, where the GDP per capita falls between 75% and 100% of the EU average.
