Central Railway Completes Ambitious Platform Expansion at Thane

The Central Railway has successfully completed the widening of platforms 5 and 6 at Thane station. The project involved a 63-hour mega block and required the coordination of 400 workers and 20 teams. A total of 935 trains were cancelled during the upgrade.

The Central Railway (CR) announced on Sunday that it had successfully completed the expansion of platforms 5 and 6 at Thane station.

The undertaking involved a special block for infrastructure enhancements, resulting in the widening of the platforms by 2-3 meters along a stretch of 587 meters.

A CR official noted that the 63-hour mega block commenced at midnight on May 30-31, and additionally, a 36-hour special block occurred at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The ambitious project required 750 pre-cast hollow blocks and coordinated efforts from 400 workers, 20 teams, and 10 contractors. A total of 935 trains were cancelled during the 63-hour period.
