Passengers at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport may soon experience a hassle-free journey as the airport operator plans to implement airside baggage transfers between Terminals 1 and 3. Awaiting approval, this innovative solution aims to streamline a significant part of the travel process, enhancing passenger comfort and convenience.

Passengers at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport may soon breathe a sigh of relief. The airport operator is on the verge of implementing a system that will ensure the seamless transfer of checked-in baggage between Terminals 1 and 3 through the airside.

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) is currently seeking approval from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) for this pioneering proposal. Officials have indicated that similar measures may also be instituted for transferring baggage from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 for international flights.

The planned system eradicates the cumbersome process of passengers personally transporting their baggage between terminals, thereby significantly enhancing the travel experience. The airport's capacity to handle 100 to 105 million passengers could be a factor that necessitated such a measure, ensuring smoother transit operations as air passenger traffic continues to rise.
