Retail Inflation for Agricultural Labourers and Rural Workers Stagnant at 7%

Retail inflation for agricultural labourers and rural workers remained almost flat at 7% and 7.02% in May 2024. The figures were 7.03% and 6.96%, respectively, in April. Main contributors were vegetables, pulses, and wheat. A distinct pattern was observed state-wise, with Bihar seeing a decline.

Retail inflation for agricultural labourers and rural workers remained almost unchanged at 7% and 7.02% respectively in May 2024, according to the labor ministry.

The inflation rates were slightly different in April 2024, at 7.03% for agricultural labourers and 6.96% for rural workers, the statement said. The figures for May 2023 were notably lower at 5.99% and 5.84%, respectively.

Main items driving up the indices included vegetables, pulses, and wheat. Distinct patterns were seen across states; Bihar experienced a decline for both CPIs, while the index for Jammu & Kashmir remained unchanged.
