Indian Railways Fails to Distribute Insulated Water Bottles to Track Maintainers

Despite the Railway Ministry's directives, lakhs of rail track maintainers are yet to receive insulated water bottles. The All India Railway Track Maintainers Union claims that the bottles are either undelivered or of poor quality, leaving track maintainers at risk during intense heat.

Despite clear instructions from the Railway Ministry, lakhs of rail track maintainers are still waiting for insulated water bottles.

The All India Railway Track Maintainers Union (AIRTU) alleges that the distribution process has been either delayed or compromised by poor-quality bottles in several divisions including Western, North-Eastern, and Central zones.

Track maintainers often rely on unhygienic water sources, leading to health issues, while the Railways Board issued reminders and guidelines as recently as May. The union claims the Railway Ministry's lax response puts track maintainers at risk.
