Singapore President Tharman Sees Bright Future for India-Southeast Asia Ties

Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam emphasized the potential of India and Southeast Asia to foster opportunity, equity, and sustainability, despite the resurgence of protectionist industrial policies globally. Speaking at the 20th anniversary of the Institute of South Asian Studies, Tharman advocated for innovation, skill development, and international collaboration to address global challenges.

Speaking at the 20th anniversary dinner of the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), Tharman praised the regions' capability to reinforce multilateralism despite a resurgence of nationalist industrial policies globally.

Tharman outlined three strategic responses for India and Southeast Asia: fostering innovation, enhancing skills through collaboration, and forming coalitions with responsible partners to tackle global challenges like climate change.
