Tragic Accident Claims Five Devotees on Pilgrimage

A speeding van on Thanjavur-Tiruchi national highway fatally knocked down five devotees, including a woman, on a pilgrimage early Wednesday morning. The victims, from Pudukottai district, were heading to Samayapuram Mariamman temple. One injured individual was hospitalized. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

In a tragic incident early Wednesday, five devotees, including a woman, were fatally struck by a speeding van while on a pilgrimage along the Thanjavur-Tiruchi national highway.

Authorities reported that the victims, residents of Pudukottai district, were en route to the Samayapuram Mariamman temple when the van, heading towards Tiruchi, hit them at Valambakudi village, located 30 km from here.

One of the pilgrims sustained injuries and has been admitted to Thanjavur government medical college hospital. Police have registered a case and commenced an investigation into the accident.
