Delhi Introduces Premium AC Buses by August: A Major Step Towards Sustainable Transport

By August, Delhiites will have access to air-conditioned buses provided by Uber and Aaveg under the Delhi Motor Vehicles Licensing of Aggregator (Premium Buses) Scheme. This initiative aims to reduce private vehicle usage and curb pollution. The buses, equipped with Wifi and GPS, will be bookable through apps.

Starting August, Delhi residents will be able to reserve seats in air-conditioned buses operated by private companies, thanks to an ambitious scheme set to be rolled out by the city government, officials confirmed.

The Premium Bus Service falls under the Delhi Motor Vehicles Licensing of Aggregator (Premium Buses) Scheme, which was notified last year. Designed to cut down on private vehicle use and reduce pollution, the service will see Uber and Aaveg running buses in Delhi-NCR.

According to a transport department official, the aggregators have finalized routes and are set to start services by the end of this month or early August. The premium buses, which include amenities such as Wifi and GPS, must be less than three years old if CNG-powered and electric if joining after January 1, 2025. Seats can be booked through aggregator apps.
