New National Cooperation Policy Announced for Holistic Development
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled the National Cooperation Policy aimed at enhancing the country's overall development. The 2024-25 Budget emphasizes digital public infrastructure for agriculture and introduces a Jan Samarth-based Kisan Credit Card. The policy also aims to boost pulse production, rural economy, employment, and shrimp farming.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a National Cooperation Policy aimed at the comprehensive development of the nation. The policy was unveiled during the presentation of the 2024-25 Budget on Tuesday.
Sitharaman revealed that the Centre will work alongside states to promote digital public infrastructure for agriculture. An important initiative includes the introduction of a Jan Samarth-based Kisan Credit Card, which is set to be rolled out in five states.
Additionally, the policy seeks to strengthen the production, storage, and marketing of pulses, while also aiming to fast-track the growth of the rural economy and the creation of employment opportunities. The government also plans to provide financial support for shrimp farming and its marketing.
