Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday announced an ambitious goal to increase the country's exports to USD 60 billion within three years, addressing the National Export Development Board meeting in Islamabad.

Sharif directed the Ministry of Commerce and relevant departments to implement practical measures to achieve this target. He highlighted that the country's exports surpassed USD 30 billion last fiscal year, with IT exports reaching USD 3.2 billion, which he termed as a positive sign.

The Prime Minister said, “I will personally chair the National Export Development Board meetings every month and a half. We must all work hard for Pakistan's progress. Despite challenging circumstances, I salute the business personalities and investors who have played their part in increasing Pakistan's exports.” The Ministry of Commerce was also instructed to collaborate with export-capable sectors to finalise policy proposals and to improve agricultural exports by introducing high-yielding crops and resolving shipping issues.
