ILO’s ENABLE Programme Partners with Lebanese contractors for On-the-Job Training

The initiative is designed to equip workers with both academic knowledge and hands-on experience directly on the job site.

The International Labour Organization's (ILO) ENABLE programme team recently engaged in a key meeting with Lebanese contractors to discuss the On-the-Job Training for the Rehabilitation of the Irrigation Channel project in Damour, located south of Beirut. This project, a collaborative effort with LebRelief and funded by the European Union, features a distinctive dual-learning approach that integrates theoretical and practical training.

The initiative is designed to equip workers with both academic knowledge and hands-on experience directly on the job site. This dual approach ensures that participants not only learn but also apply their skills in real-world settings, enhancing their effectiveness and readiness for future roles.

During the meeting, the ENABLE team emphasized the importance of collaboration and stakeholder engagement. They actively sought feedback from contractors to align the project with the current job market needs and address any sector-specific challenges. A key focus of the project is to promote inclusivity, with particular attention to involving women and persons with disabilities in the training program.
