Mankind Pharma's Landmark Acquisition of Bharat Serums and Vaccines
Mankind Pharma announced its full acquisition of Bharat Serums and Vaccines from Advent International for Rs 13,630 crore. This move solidifies Mankind's leadership in the Indian women's health and fertility market while expanding its critical care segment. The acquisition adds BSV's renowned biopharmaceutical expertise to Mankind's diverse portfolio.
In a major deal within the pharmaceutical sector, Mankind Pharma revealed on Thursday its complete acquisition of Bharat Serums and Vaccines from private equity investor Advent International, totaling around Rs 13,630 crore.
This strategic acquisition is a significant leap for Mankind, positioning itself as a leader in the Indian women's health and fertility drug market while gaining access to high-entry barrier products in critical care, backed by established R&D technology platforms.
The agreement with Advent involves a definitive acquisition of 100% of Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV) for an enterprise value of Rs 13,630 crore, as per Mankind Pharma's statement.
BSV, with over five decades of biopharmaceutical leadership, has been noted for developing recombinant and niche biologic products in-house, showcasing its robust R&D capabilities. The company holds a strong branded product portfolio in women's health, fertility, and critical care.
'BSV's acquisition represents a pivotal milestone in Mankind's journey, establishing us as the market leader in Indian women's health and fertility segment,' explained Mankind Pharma Vice-Chairman and MD Rajeev Juneja.
Juneja emphasized the vast opportunities for growth in the women's health and fertility segment, driven by strong global structural tailwinds.

Commenting on the deal, Shweta Jalan, Managing Partner and Head of Advent India, expressed confidence that the combined expertise of Mankind Pharma and BSV will further accelerate the journey to becoming one of India's largest pharma companies.
BSV CEO and MD Sanjiv Navangul affirmed that the acquisition underscores the company's commitment to delivering cutting-edge products and expanding access for millions of patients globally.
BSV reported Rs 1,723 crore in revenues for FY24, marking a 20% year-on-year growth with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 28%.
Mankind Pharma is among India's leading pharmaceutical companies, focusing on the domestic market and spanning acute and chronic therapeutic areas like anti-infectives, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and antidiabetic.
