The central government has established six nano urea plants and four nano DAP plants to promote nano fertilizers among farmers, said Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Anupriya Patel, while answering a question in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Minister Patel highlighted numerous steps taken by the government to encourage the use of nano fertilizers. These include awareness camps, webinars, nukkad nataks, field demonstrations, Kisan Sammelans, and films in regional languages. The government made nano urea available at Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Kendras (PMKSKs) and included it in the monthly supply plan issued by the Department of Fertilizers. National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) and Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited (RCF) are encouraged to set up Nano Urea plants.
Recently, ICAR's Indian Institute of Soil Science in Bhopal organized a National Campaign to promote efficient fertilizer use, including nano fertilizers. Additionally, the 'Namo Drone Didi' Scheme aims to provide drones to 15,000 women Self Help Groups for the increased application of nano fertilizers through drones. So far, 1,094 drones have been distributed. The Department of Fertilizers has also launched campaigns for the adoption of Nano DAP and the field-level demonstration of Nano Urea plus across the country.
