Railways Provide Ex-Gratia Compensation Following Howrah-Mumbai Mail Mishap
The Railways made an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of two deceased passengers from the 12810 Howrah-Mumbai Mail, which derailed near Barabamboo station in Jharkhand. Additional compensation of Rs 1 lakh was given to eight passengers who sustained minor injuries.

The Railways has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of two deceased passengers involved in the derailment of the 12810 Howrah-Mumbai Mail near Barabamboo station in Jharkhand. The tragic incident took place early on Tuesday morning.
In addition to the compensation for the bereaved families, the Railways has also extended financial aid of Rs 1 lakh each to eight passengers who suffered minor injuries in the incident. The injured group included two women and six men.
The derailment affected 18 coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai Mail via Nagpur, resulting in the unfortunate fatalities of P Bikash and Ajit Kumar Samal, both residents of Rourkela, Odisha. The South Eastern Railway confirmed these details in an official statement.
