Hoax Bomb Scare Halts Somnath Express for Six Hours

The Somnath Express was delayed for six hours due to a bomb threat which later turned out to be a hoax. The train was stopped at Kasu Begu railway station, and passengers were evacuated and served by villagers and NGOs. The suspect was apprehended in South 24 Parganas.

The Somnath Express, traveling between Jammu and Rajasthan, faced a six-hour delay following an anonymous bomb threat call that later proved to be a hoax.

At 7.42 am, the train was halted at Kasu Begu railway station, leading to the evacuation of all passengers. The suspect responsible for the hoax was arrested in South 24 Parganas district with the help of information from Punjab police.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Saumya Mishra confirmed that the train was stopped around 10 km from Ferozepur. Extensive search operations, including dog squads and bomb squads from neighboring districts, were conducted, resulting in a six-hour delay before the train was cleared to depart at 1.55 pm.

During this period, villagers and NGOs provided food and tea to passengers. An ambulance and a fire brigade were also on standby.
