Air India Express is expanding its international network by launching direct flights connecting Kolkata and Chennai with Dhaka from September 3.

The Tata Group-owned airline, currently in the process of merging AIX Connect with itself, operates services to 14 international and 32 domestic destinations.

Air India Express announced on Wednesday that it will operate six weekly flights each connecting Dhaka to Kolkata and Chennai. This addition makes Dhaka the 15th international destination for the carrier.

Airline Managing Director Aloke Singh highlighted that the new routes would support trade, tourism, and medical travel from Bangladesh to Chennai and Kolkata's specialty hospitals.

Additionally, these services will provide connections to Air India Express flights to the Gulf region and Air India's long-haul international flights.

With a fleet of 80 planes, the carrier operates more than 380 daily flights to destinations including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore.
