Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru announced on Wednesday the successful conclusion of another outstanding mango export season, solidifying its position as a significant player in the agricultural export sector. The airport shipped an impressive 822 metric tonnes (MT) of mangoes in 2024, reflecting a remarkable 20 percent year-on-year growth.
Building on last year's exports of 685 tonnes, this season's achievement is highlighted by a significant increase in the total number of mangoes exported, reaching 27 lakh pieces. This represents a 59 percent rise in volume compared to the previous season, demonstrating both the growing global demand for Indian mangoes and Bengaluru Airport's efficiency in managing perishable exports.
This season saw a surge in mango exports to US destinations, including Washington Dulles (IAD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), and San Francisco (SFO). With a robust export network covering over 60 international destinations such as Chicago (ORD), Seattle (SEA), Dubai (DXB), London (LHR), and Houston (IAH), BLR Airport continues to facilitate the seamless global distribution of Indian agricultural products.
"BLR Airport's state-of-the-art cold storage facility, WFS BLR Coolport, is instrumental in maintaining the quality of perishable goods throughout the supply chain," stated Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Operating Officer at Bangalore International Airport. "Our substantial year-on-year increase in mango exports reaffirms our status as a premier gateway meeting the rising demand for Indian mangoes, particularly to key international markets," Raghunath added.
