In a startling turn of events, a city resident has lodged a formal complaint against e-commerce giant Amazon, alleging that an online order for a high-end mobile phone resulted in the delivery of six tea cups.
Amar Chavan, who serves as a deputy engineer with the civic-run Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking, ordered a Techno Phantom V Fold mobile phone from Amazon, costing him Rs 54,999, on July 13. To his dismay, the parcel that arrived two days later contained tea cups instead.
Chavan's subsequent efforts to obtain an explanation from Amazon and the associated seller yielded no satisfactory results. Mahim police have since registered a First Information Report (FIR) for alleged cheating and have launched an investigation into the matter. Amazon India has yet to comment on the incident.
