July Sees GST Collections Surge and Mixed Trends in Commodity Prices

GST collections in July rose by 10.3% to Rs 1.82 lakh crore, driven primarily by domestic transactions in goods and services, according to the latest official data released on Thursday.
Additionally, the price of jet fuel increased by 2%, and commercial LPG rates climbed by Rs 6.5 per 19-kg cylinder. This follows monthly revisions aligned with international oil price trends.
In response to rising food costs, the Indian government will start selling subsidized tomatoes at Rs 50 per kg in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai retail markets from Friday, down from Rs 60 per kg.
