The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) reached a landmark in July 2024, processing an unprecedented 12 million orders across its platform. The network averaged a staggering 430,000 orders daily, showcasing its rapid expansion and growing influence. Currently, ONDC hosts over 638,000 sellers and service providers, operational in more than 609 cities and delivering to 1,200 cities nationwide. This remarkable volume underscores the network's increasing popularity and effectiveness in meeting diverse consumer needs.

The impressive figure of 12 million orders includes contributions from both the mobility and non-mobility sectors. The mobility sector alone accounted for 4.4 million orders, while the non-mobility sector tallied 7.6 million orders. Within non-mobility, the food and beverages segment led with 1.7 million transactions, followed by the grocery sector with 1.4 million transactions, and the fashion segment with 0.6 million transactions. Other orders were distributed across on-network logistics, beauty and personal care, home and kitchen, and retail vouchers segments.

ONDC's growth is evident in the food and beverages sector, where it captured an impressive 18 per cent market share in Bengaluru and 3 per cent nationally. Additionally, July saw the launch of the auto components and accessories category, featuring prominent sellers such as Ess Aay Automotive (Hero Genuine). Not only is ONDC scaling in order volume, but it is also broadening its operational reach. Now spanning 10 domains with 108 active participants, the network's influence continues to grow.

Looking forward, ONDC is preparing for the Swantantra Sale, promising enticing offers and promotions to drive consumer engagement. This sale is expected to further highlight ONDC's diverse array of products and services. Established on December 31, 2021, ONDC is a Section 8 company under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It aims to revolutionize digital commerce in India by promoting an open, unbundled, and interoperable network model.
