Maruti Suzuki Begins Export of Fronx SUV to Japan

Maruti Suzuki India has started exporting its Fronx SUV to Japan. The initial shipment of over 1,600 vehicles left from Gujarat's Pipavav port. Fronx is the first SUV by Maruti Suzuki to be launched in Japan and the second model after Baleno in 2016. The company is confident of its success in the Japanese market.

Maruti Suzuki India has initiated the export of its Fronx sports utility vehicle (SUV) to Japan, marking a significant milestone for the automaker. An initial consignment of over 1,600 vehicles departed from Gujarat's Pipavav port. This shipment makes Fronx the first SUV from Maruti Suzuki to be introduced in the Japanese market.

Suzuki Motor Corporation, which holds approximately 58% of Maruti Suzuki, plans to officially launch the Fronx in Japan later this year. 'Japan is one of the most quality-conscious and advanced automobile markets in the world,' said Maruti Suzuki India MD & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi, emphasizing the company's capability to manufacture world-class vehicles.

Unveiled globally at the Auto Expo 2023 and launched in India on April 24, 2023, Fronx has already achieved notable sales milestones. Since its debut, the SUV has recorded over 2 lakh unit sales domestically and internationally. Maruti Suzuki, a leader in passenger vehicle exports, shipped more than 2.8 lakh units last fiscal year, capturing a 42% market share.
