India's textiles and apparel exports experienced a considerable rise of 4.73 per cent in July, totaling USD 2,937.56 million, according to the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) on Thursday. This growth is notably higher compared to the same month last year.
The report indicated that while textiles exports were stable at USD 1,660.36 million in July, apparel shipments surged by 11.84 per cent, reaching USD 1,277.20 million from USD 1,141.95 million the previous year.
CITI Chairman Rakesh Mehra attributed this promising trend to increased Indian apparel shares in major markets like the US, along with expanding exports to the European Union and the UK. Mehra expressed optimism for future export orders, highlighting the potential boost from newly concluded Free Trade Agreements with Australia and the UAE.
