Sixteen people sustained injuries when a private bus overturned on the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway in Punjab on Monday, according to police reports.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dasuya) Jatinder Singh stated that the injured were transported to the civil hospital immediately following the accident.

A critically injured 26-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were referred to a higher medical facility in Amritsar. Those with minor injuries were treated on the spot and discharged after first-aid.

The incident took place near Pawan Jhingran village when the bus driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and overturn in a field. At the time, the bus was traveling from Dasuya to Jalandhar with approximately 42 passengers on board.
