Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot announced on Wednesday that trial runs have commenced on two new routes of the Mohalla Bus service. Current trials cover routes from Pradhan Enclave Pushta to Majlis Park Metro Station and from Akshardham Metro Station to Mayur Vihar Phase III Paper Market.

In an X post, Gehlot revealed, 'As our Mohalla Bus trials continue successfully, we will add two more trial routes today -- Kailash Colony Metro Station to PNB Gitanjali Colony and Lok Kalyan Marg metro station to Vasant Vihar Metro station. These routes will reach 6-7 South Campus colleges such as JMC, Maitreyi Venkateshwara, ARSD, RLA, and Motilal, enhancing last-mile connectivity for young Delhiites.'

The green-painted buses are equipped with six battery packs offering a total capacity of 196KW, allowing a range of over 200 km and an opportunity charging time of 45 minutes. Measuring nine meters in length, these buses feature 23 passenger seats and a standing capacity for 13. Six seats are marked pink, reserved for women. Anticipated to reach a fleet of 2,080 buses by 2025, the initial 100 buses are already in operation, acquired from the DMRC, with further plans involving operations by DTC and DIMTS.
