Union minister Piyush Goyal will flag off the inaugural run of a bi-weekly train between Bandra Terminus and Madgaon on Thursday afternoon, the Western Railway (WR) announced. The new train service is set to improve connectivity between Mumbai's western suburbs, the Konkan region, and Goa.

According to the release, the train will offer residents of Mumbai’s western suburbs direct connectivity to the Konkan region. Approved by the railway board just a day earlier, the train will run from Madgaon every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.40 am, arriving at Bandra Terminus at 11.40 pm. The return journey from Bandra will be on Wednesdays and Fridays at 6.50 am, reaching Madgaon at 10 pm.

However, regular services have not yet been officially announced by the WR. Railway sources expressed concerns that the 20-car train might impact the punctuality of suburban services, as its engine needs to be reversed at Vasai Road. On its inaugural run, the train will stop at multiple stations en route and will feature various classes, including AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper, and General Second Class coaches.
