Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced the operation of 342 special trains to accommodate the influx of travelers for the Ganesh festival, commencing on September 7. This is in response to the high demand for Konkan-bound trains from Mumbai residents.
During a virtual address, Vaishnaw disclosed the details of the new train services at the inauguration of a bi-weekly train connecting Bandra Terminus in Mumbai with Madgaon in Goa. Union Commerce Minister and local MP Piyush Goyal flagged off the inaugural journey.
To further enhance Mumbai's suburban railway network, 12 ongoing infrastructure projects worth Rs 16,240 crore are expected to significantly benefit commuters. These projects aim to improve connectivity and relieve congestion across the city.
