Boosting India's Alcoholic Beverage Exports: An Ambitious Vision

The Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) envisions reaching USD 1 billion in exports with government support and ease of doing business. CIABC Director General Anant S Iyer highlights necessary reforms and strategic measures to boost the sector, aiming for a significant growth in export figures.

Support from the Centre and state governments is crucial for India to reach USD 1 billion in alcoholic beverage exports, according to the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC). Currently, the export stands at USD 389 million for 2023-24.

CIABC Director General Anant S Iyer emphasized the need for operational improvements such as streamlining bottling, branding permissions, and transport permits. He also highlighted the importance of promoting online paperwork for the sector's growth.

Targeting a year-on-year growth rate of 14-15%, Iyer suggested formulating specific state policies, offering incentives, and leveraging Indian missions abroad to promote exports. APEDA noted that India ranks 40th globally in alcoholic beverage exports, with major markets being UAE, Singapore, and the Netherlands.
