Kotak Mahindra aims to provide health insurance coverage to marathon runners

Kotak Mahindra General Insurance, a 100 per cent subsidiary of private sector Kotak Mahindra Bank Friday said it would insure all the registered runners of the seventh edition of Skechers Performance Chennai Marathon, scheduled to be held here on January 6. Kotak General Insurance would offer a cover that includes hospitalisation expenses up to Rs one lakh due to illness and injury for all registered runners, a company statement said.

"We are excited to partner with Skechers Performance Chennai Marathon 2019 and provide health insurance coverage to each of the 25,000 plus runners and spread awareness about benefits of insurance", Kotak Mahindra General Insurance, MD and an ardent marathoner Mahesh Balasubramanian said. The 2019 edition of marathon supports the theme "Access to Sports for Para Athletes" and a portion of the proceeds would go towards developing training facilities, identifying potential athletes and supporting talented para-athletes. The event would feature a 10kms, 21kms half marathon and 42.19kms full marathon, perfect 20 miler 32.1 kms.
