Indian Railway Stores Service officer Ashok Kumar Verma has officially taken on the role of General Manager of Northern Railway, as confirmed by the Railways on Tuesday.
In addition to his new role, Verma continues to oversee the Central Organization for Railway Electrification (CORE) in Prayagraj. A 1987-batch officer, Verma brings extensive experience in both store-related issues and general administration. His prior roles include Principal Chief Material Manager in North Western Railway, Divisional Railway Manager of Bengaluru Division, and Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Jhansi Division.
Verma's qualifications include a degree in Civil Engineering from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Prayagraj, and an MBA from IIM Kolkata. Following his assumption of the new role, Verma held a meeting with principal heads of departments and other key officials, emphasizing the significance of punctuality and safety in railway operations.
