The scheduled inauguration of the new passenger terminal at Petrapole, planned for October 24 by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has been postponed because of Cyclone Dana. The cyclone is expected to impact the north Odisha and West Bengal coasts.
Trade operations through the Indo-Bangladesh Petrapole land port will continue as normal from October 22 to 25, despite the postponed visit by Shah, according to Kamlesh Saini, Manager of Petrapole Land Port.
The Rs 450 crore terminal is part of the largest land port in South Asia and aims to enhance efficiency, managing up to 2.3 million passengers annually with a modern, airport-style design.
